The Sunday Art Show - Simple step by step measuring proportions for animal art

Materials needed if you want to follow along:
Photo of an animal of choice, paper or canvas, drawing medium of choice, 3 colours would be useful (I use a Sharpie pen in this video), a spare long-handled brush (or a stick would do).
In this week's video, I demonstrate, with help from Exmouth Art Group, a simple two box method for quickly getting the proportions of animals accurate. Working on a drawing of a cow, I start by using the classic, thumb on brush measuring technique then transfer these measurements into drawing a well-proportioned box that will contain the whole animal. Next, I do the same style measurements for the head of the animal allowing me to draw a second box within the first. You can also see how this technique works for members of Exmouth Art Group who attended a workshop I ran on painting animals.
