"The Gloomy Sky" was inspired by the view to the distant Devon hills out through the window on an overcast day in February. England in winter often produces grey mottled skies that are one continuous blanket of cloud. Below this, there can still be beauty in the English countryside, green hills roll away, undulating into the distance, the horizon marked by a line of trees. Subtle colors from nearer foliage and hedgerows are enhanced to bring a little cheer to winter!
