'The things you see at the seaside' - this surreal watercolour painting was inspired by a beautiful calm summer day at the beach in Budleigh Salterton in Devon, UK. As the calm blue green sea gently lapped at the pebbles I applied soft washes of watercolor. There were lots of people on paddle boards that day and also people swimming or just standing in the water. I captured a couple of these figures with a combination of ball point pen and watercolour, then I added a paddle board in the foreground and placed a brown belted galloway cow complete with a single white stripe on top of her own paddle board - and this surreal scene makes me smile every time I look at it! :-)
