Artist's Description
'Waiting to cross' depicts 3 cars waiting for the automatic barrier of the level crossing at Exeter St Davids railway station to be lifted so that they can move on from the queue and head off to their destination on this sunny summer evening in Devon, England. Broad sweeping washes of watercolor were applied with a mop brush, transparent layers of watercolour build into luminous patches of colour to create a sense of space and light in a loose gestural style.
