Artist's Description
'Red cliffs, wet sand, a walk along a magical land' - a visit to Sidmouth on the south coast of Devon in England inspired this mixed media painting of the dramatically coloured red cliffs, orange sand and blue purple sea. Starting with watercolor marker pen and then using atelier interactive acrylics, I used a variety of techniques to capture the myriad of textures (dry brush, blending, washes) and surfaces (reflections on the water and wet sand) creating an atmospheric impressionist painting that captures the feeling and vibrant colours of this beach scene. A few figures walking along the wet sand give a sense of scale to the cliffs.
